12 Tips For Living A More Relaxed Life
Special Promotion With… Here’s a few tips and tricks to make your days a little more relaxed, a little more easy going, and a lot less stressed.
1.) The easiest thing you can do to switch gears from “stressed” to “relaxed” is simply getting up an hour or two earlier each day. Whether it’s a round of laundry hanging over your head, that TV show you missed the night before, or something else entirely, extra time in the morning = less busy throughout the day.
2.) At work, the 80/20 rule is something almost everyone should consider. A lot of times, 20% of clients or responsibilities take up 80% of your time. Try and isolate the time-suckers and replace them the best you can while still meeting your goals and tasks.
3.) In the middle of the day, try and sneak outside for a walk. This is especially important if you sit at a desk for 8+ hours each day. The fresh air and light exercise will make just about anyone feel better.
4.) The more healthy you eat throughout the day, the less bogged down you’ll feel by a bunch of junk turning around in your stomach. If you’re constantly feeling stressed, trade in the potato chips and ice cream for something a little better for you, and you’ll be surprised by how much more alive, awake, and better you feel.
5.) Try and get out for some sun whenever you get a chance. This isn’t exactly possible if you live in Minnesota during the winter, but a little vitamin D goes a long way to brighten your moods and make you feel less stressed if you live in an area that allows it. Whether that’s a poolside dip for a good half hour or sitting on a bench in the sun for five minutes, every little bit helps.
6.) In the morning, create a to-do list with all your responsibilities for the day and do the ones you’re looking forward to least FIRST. Whether that’s an annoying email you have to respond to or that boring report you have to write up, get it done first and get it out of the way.
7.) It might take a good hour or two, but go through your email and unsubscribe from all the shops and brands that spam you with stuff you’re uninterested in. A clear inbox means a clear mind, and a clear mind is one that’s less stressed.
8.) If you’re feeling stressed, put the talk radio, podcasts, and hard rock away, and opt for a little “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” or other similarly upbeat tune. Music has such an impact on our mood, and the right jam can legitimately put a smile on your face when you need it most.
9.) Go through your social media accounts and unfollow/unfriend people who bring a lot of negative energy to your feeds. Whether it’s that person you barely know from high school who is always posting his hot political takes on Facebook or a blog you sometimes read that’s more snarky and negative than enjoyable, you’ll be happier and less stressed because of it.
10.) Set up auto-pay for all of your bills so you never have to deal with sending in checks for your utilities, rent, car payment, insurance, etc. Just one less thing to worry about and you’ll be amazed by how much a difference this makes in the stress department.
11.) Turn off push notifications for every app that isn’t absolutely necessary. That way, you only check your social networking accounts, email, and other digital things on your own time, not whenever you get a buzz.
12.) Don’t dress like a slob, but think about comfort first when you’re buying new clothes and getting dressed each morning. Even if that pair of jeans look fantastic on you, if they make you feel uncomfortable, they’re probably not worth buying or wearing and will only add to your stress levels when running errands, going to work, or getting a few drinks at night. There are plenty of clothes out there that will look good AND make you feel good. Opt for those, you’ll ultimately be happier.
